Ogden is a small rural community with a population of 2,040 people. We are located in the central part of Iowa. Iowa State University in Ames is 25 minutes away and our state capital Des Moines is less than an hour away. Easy to find we are located at the intersection of Hwy 30 and 169. We are also a railroad community that is serviced by Union Pacific Railroad.

 

The educational system is one of the most technologically advanced districts in Iowa. Our grade school, middle school and high school offer a wide variety of activities including a very strong athletic program, and an indoor pool for year round use.

We are a small town that offers a lot for our community. We are proud of the community involvement with people of all ages participating. Our community center is a new and wonderful facility for class reunions, wedding receptions, business meetings and many other events. It is air-conditioned and has a new state of the art kitchen. The Leonard A. Good Community Library is also a new and most impressive addition to our town. We also have numerous Churches . A city park, with a new bandstage and a memorial monument and flag honoring our veterans enhance the area.

We have great strength in our business district offering much to our small town. With banking, a lumber yard, a Veterinary Clinic, Dental and Medical offices, a Nursing home, a Chiropractic office, Pharmacist, 2 Insurance Agencies, Real Estate office, and a Grocery Store to meet the needs of the community. We are very proud of the new city hall, police and fire station. With newer equipment and a first responder unit of volunteer’s we are able to do a fine job accommodating the surrounding area’s needs.

Our Community Economic Preparedness Program has drawn state recognition and visits from former Gov. Terry Brandstad. The Lincoln Highway Association has established it state coordinator’s office here. The original Lincoln Highway goes through the center of Ogden, now Walnut St. and our business district. Our Rural Mainstreet Board is very involved in what happens in our town and the community is very proud of its 131 year history. We are a community that strives to keep our assets strong and thriving.

We provide a good small town environment for all ages, a very nice senior citizens center a wonderful pre-school for the little ones, a great roller rink, and a year round indoor pool. We also enjoy a three-day Summer Celebration topped off with our Oktoberfest that adds enjoyment for all.

Boone Information
Boone Iowa is a community of 12,860 people directly located off Highway 30. It is 20 minutes away from Ames, Iowa home of Iowa State University, and the Iowa State Cyclones. It is also 40 minutes away from the state capital Des Moines. We are a community that can boast of entertainment and recreation for people of all ages.

Education
Our educational system is one of the best in the state, offering a wide variety of activities for our children and a good academic program. Six grade schools are located in all area’s of town, two parochial schools and a Learning Alternative Center, and numerous pre-schools, Des Moines Area Community College, and a Bible College are all a part of our community. Boone is an agricultural town and a railroad town, serviced by the Union Pacific railroad.

We boast with pride in the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad, home of the Chinese Steam Engine, train rides and trolley rides. These attractions are celebrated with an annual celebration known as Pufferbilly Days. Our fine fairgrounds host the yearly Boone County Fair and numerous other occasions are held in its community building. Our fine Health Center provides Boone and the surrounding area with a fine facility that contains an indoor pool and activities for all ages. We have 3 clinics, a hospital, 3 nursing homes, and a fabulous new senior housing complex. We have churches of many denominations.

Recreation
Recreation is in abundance, with a new outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and numerous parks adding to the beauty and recreation in our town. The Ledges State Park is to the south and Don Williams Lake is northwest offering lovely campgrounds, hiking, golfing, fishing and boating facilities for all to enjoy. Activities are plentiful for youth of all ages, 4-H along with 4-H campground center is available along with many other organizations. We have many organizations for adults to join and a senior citizen center, which is very active.

Our business district will cover all your needs, from having a party to buying antiques. Industry is found to the east of Boone on Industrial Park Road and growing now on the south side of town. We have a Chamber of Commerce; a Merchants Association, and economic development group, community betterment programs that all give greatly to the community.

Dayton Information

Downtown Dayton

Dayton is located on Highway 175, 20 miles north of Boone and 20 south of Fort Dodge in scenic southern Webster County. We are a rural farming community of 1000 people with a Scandinavian heritage. Our active business community is comprised of Community Medical Center, Family Pharmacy, First American Bank, Scandinavian Mutual Insurance Company, Family Food Center, insurance agencies, manufacturing, restaurants, lumber yard, body shop as well as many other businesses.

Dayton is well known for its annual Labor Day Rodeo and celebration. There are many recreational opportunities with Dayton's 9-hole golf course, Don Williams Lake and Recreation area with its 9-hole golf course, Brushy Creek Lake and Recreation area and the Des Moines River valley which offers hunting, hiking, boating and fishing.
